“If God didn’t want us to eat animals, why did he make them out of meat?” Here’s an interesting statement that most vegetarians and vegans can muse upon! Although it all depends on lots of factors, being a ‘carnivore’ might not be that bad, after all.
Last time we went through some basic and yet very popular questions like “why is meat so important” and “what type of meat would be best for me”. In case you missed the article, go check it out here! Otherwise, let’s see what we’ve got for you today, shall we?!
- What benefits can each meat type bring?
Well, that’s a rather common asking as well and it’s probably like this because each animal would give us different things. Some are rich in potassium, while others are full of zinc, etc. So, to make it all clear, we will divide them like this:
- Veal – As a matter of fact, veal is said to contain mostly vitamins from the B group like B1, B2, B3, B6 and (most importantly!) B12. Among the minerals there are high quantities of iron, magnesium, phosphorus and zinc. By the way, veal is known to be one of the best sources of protein in the world! Can you believe that?!
- Chicken – This super popular meat is also able to give us vitamin B12. Great! What’s more, nutritionists say there are also B3 and B6 in it together with potassium, phosphorus and zinc. In case you’re still not sure whether chicken is that healthy, maybe this article will convince you!
- Pork – Oh, good old piggies definitely have something to give us. Not only is pork meat super delicious, but it’s also a good source of B vitamins. When you consume it, make sure you also eat the liver as it’s a ‘B12 bomb’, for sure!
- Lamb – This one is also very high in proteins, which makes it a perfect addition to the fitness menu. It’s also a source of iron, magnesium and phosphorus, which are quite important.
2. How to include meat into my healthy menu?
If you’re leading a healthy lifestyle, eating fresh fruits and vegetables, doing sports and practicing meditation, congratulations! You’re on the right path. However, being healthy doesn’t mean you should exclude meat at all costs. In order for meat to be a part of your “healthy menu”, we would suggest the following:
- Use lean meat, without much fat. Red and bird meat are essential for us, but they tend to contain fat and cholesterol. If you try to get rid of the excess fat, you can still enjoy the meat’s taste and health benefits!
- Cook it gently, which includes steaming, baking or boiling. Plus, don’t forget to garnish with lots of veggies as well.
- Stick to fresh types of meat instead of semi-manufactures. You’re going to thank me later!
That’s all it takes! Basically, you are only three steps away from including meat into your healthy lifestyle. Without even having to make any compromises at all!
